New Years Resolution. SERIOUSLY!!?!?!?!

Okay I'll be TRUELY honest here

I never REALLLY had a new years resolution before

It was just a come and go thing for me that is. New Years.

Since I ain't going anywhere tonight I just thought I'd drop a post :D

Loads of things happened in the past year.

And to be honest this year passed by really quickly for some reason

At least for me (:

I climbed consistently the past 52 weeks.

I made new buddies here and there

I emceed my college prom

I went to degree Year one

I learnt a lot of things I didn't know last year

I didn't cut my hair since march this year :DDDD

I died my hair green early this year :D

I turned 18

I got a real pet dog for the first time in my life

I GOT MY LICENCSE!! :D

I drive my mom's van :D

I became PR leader for my college council :D

I made contact with other college councils

I emceed the breast cancer bazaar at my college :D

I watched some really great anime's (like hajime no ippo XD)

I also went to the land of Thai

I started THIS blog

I only blogged 6 out of the 12 months though XD

hey! everone needs a break

I also posted hentai on my blog (: and it's something I think most of your

friends wouldn't do.... LOL!!

And it was all really incredible (:

SO!

For the first time I really feel like having a new year's resolution

1) become a 7a climber by december 2010

2) do well in my degree :D (year 1 second semester now)

3) consistently update this blog for the sake of my fans XD

4) become more patient and tolerant of others with different viewpoints

5) be even MORE open mUHAHAHAhAa!! XD

6) treat friends better

7) KEEP MY HAIR!! XD (maybe a trim though to shape it up)

8) Understand PEOPLE better

9) CONTINUE STAYING SINGLE!! XDDD

10) Last but not least, and this is always my resolution each year

To change the world someday (:

It's great to be back, I apologize for the late update, I've been back since thursday
evening :D

First of all....

Merry Christmas and Happy new Year! Have a good one people :D

First day of mah journey baby! :D

Okay look, the journey to the BORDER of malaysia from KL is about 500km

Then when we reached the border my bro turned on the gps and....

DISTANCE TO BANGKOK FROM BORDER IS 1000 KM OMFG!!!! T_T

altogether to get there its 1500KM PEOPLE!!

take note that malaysia is only about 800km in length.... SO I NEARLY
TRAVELLED TWICE THE LENGTH OF MALAYSIA!

Parents in the front seat, and my bro's knees and toes :D

So anyway, we stopped at carrefour in one of the cities to eat

BIG PROBLEM

WE CAN'T READ

Fact : Thailand has never been colonized by any country

SO it's VERY hard to find english speaking people

and most of the signs there are in thai!!

Might wanna take note if your planning to travel to thailand :D

So... ordering food, asking around, finding your way around is
gonna take much more effort :D

Learn sign language if you have to

Toilets here are so so, a bit better than malaysia I think

Also depends where the toilet is la hahaha

Some petrol stations toilet are decent, some aren't

rotiboy chocolate buns rock (: forgot what it is called

the one with chocolate chips on top YUM!! XD

It was pretty late so we stayed at this hotel... the name is...

VERY LONG!! XD

and its in thai I think

We were there around 10 or 11pm, cant remember

But it was pretty okay, 545 Baht

Equal to RM 54.50

CHEAP!! :DD

Okay next morning, still travelling....

You must be wondering how long we took to get there huh??!?!?!

Well I'll tell you............. We started at 3.30am saturday morning

AND we reached there 1pm Sunday

That means about....

18hrs the first day, and 5 hours the next day

23 HOURS OF TRAVELING!!

Ya know I was like.... are we there yet are we there yet ARE WE THERE YET ARE WE THERE YET OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!

Yesssss, spending one an a half days in a car is NOT fun

Oh yea, so many police stops, I think we went through 10 at least throughout
our journey in thailand to and fro


Believe me when I say most of the things here are in Thai! :D

ANDDDDD they really love and respect their king!!

I can see TONS of pictures and portraits of him all over Thailand :D

Hm hm... The sceneries are nice, but you get bored if you travel too long anyway

We are at the outskirts of Bangkok

And the first thing I see is...

PINK TAXIS OMG!! XDDDDD

Fact : 1 out of 3 cars are taxis in Bangkok :DDD

And pink buses too! Although pink Taxis win in numbers hands DOWN!!

And did I mention the taxis are Vios cars? LOL MAN LOL!!!

Still at the outskirts, so as you can deduce.... BANGKOK IS HUGE!!

I heard 4 or 5 times of KL or something

And I think the traffic is really bad...

The drivers are what makes Bangkok DANGEROUS!!

Seriously, though maybe it can't be helped, its normal for ppl to be... impatient, even
here in Malaysia

We stayed at Sathorn inn, 1400 Baht per night

Hey! It's Bangkok man, the capital, we took a LONG time
to find somewhere this cheap

Places like Meridian hotel is 5000 Baht per night okay haha

so this was our sleeping place for the next three days!

Hm... SO our first night here, where to?!?!?!?

THE CLIMBING GYM IN BANGKOK!!

I researched online, it seems that it was at a place called the big C supermarket

YES IM A CLIMBING MANIAC HHOHOHOHO SUE ME!! XD

Chong Nonsi, the station where my inn was

We were told the NEAREST big C was at... a station after the Siam station
interchange

So we headed to Siam, this is the Siam Paragon, really NICE place

But pricey, it's like the Curve version of Bangkok

Woo! we finally arrived!

I mean, I guess were used to camp5 being so big (biggest in asia i think)

So... were not used to seeing smaller stuff I guess

The place opens at 1, we were early

So it's time for lunch!!

OMG THE MCD HERE IS BIGGER!!

LOOK THEY HAVE MEGAMAC HERE ALL THE TIME!! XDDD

man, I SOOO wanted to eat it

But my dad was like... NOooooo, you need healthy food bla bla bla bla *close ears*

Hence we ate "HEALTHY food"

Oh well.. As you can see I don't like my veges very much (:

So we head back to the gym! It was open

It's a 10meter wall

There are coloured tapes on each rock, and the routes are according to
the tape color

Different from camp5 where you follow rock colour

The person standing there with my dad is Majid, he's an Iranian
guy

Really nice guy. He was my temporary instructor for the whole day

It's 150 baht per day without gear, with gear 200 baht

Pretty reasonable :D

And the yearly membership is 1200 baht I think? VERY CHEAP

I had to get used to it

Yay, he's gonna belay me

It's hard on my friends to belay me cuz I tend to climb many routes
for endurance

But im really trying hard to be a good climber, I'm sorry! XDDD

This brown was the hardest route I tried

Didn't take a video though, SORRY!! :DD

To be honest I only managed to really CLEAN 2 of the 7 routes I tried that day

It's really different from climbing to camp5

Most of the routes are zig zagged, and requires
certain moves which I was not used to

HENCE I really learnt a lot from climbing there!

Moves I thought were impossible, Majid just went "DO IT!"

And I did it LOL!!

Sometimes you just have to have confidence in your moves

And your instructor :D

He's a really great climber and teacher!

Some info on him

Climbing Period : 10 Years

Students : About 5-10 of them

Favourite holds : Slopers

(Slopers are usually rounded rocks that are hard to hold and you need to apply
pressure on them to hold)

Of course there are many kinds of slopers! just wanted to give you a rough idea of one

FIRST TIME I met a master climber who LOVES slopers

People usually love creams (Holds that are small and needs finger strength)

During the break intervals I had, he gave me some really GOOD pointers

Majid : What holds do they usually use at your place?

Danny : Huh? Erm.... I think mostly creams, it's kinda hard to find slopers at camp5, majority are jugs or creams Danny : Don't tell me you like slopers?

Majid : Phuhhh!! I LOVE THEM! *smirks*

Majid : You train slopers you train your wrist, your forearm, arms, and even shoulder If you train Creams you only train finger area, and maybe some forearm strength

Danny : True (my favourite holds are creams by the way LOL)

Majid : Yes, there was this european climber who was 7B+ level, I gave him a 6C+ route but he couldnt do it. Because over there they train Creams only. They are unable to meet with even 6C+ slopers
Danny : Wow, I really didn't think of it like that before until you told me this story
Majid : Yeap, and I think climbers have nice bodies Not too big like those body builders, you will have nice arms and shoulders, and legs muscles and toes are also trained in endurance routes Danny : *nods* I have a friend of mine who says im doing endurance too excessively do you think its true? I usually climb all the routes at the sentinel wall (he's been to camp5) About 11 routes

Majid : No, it's not really, when I climb with the competition people it's usually 15 routes up and down non-stop for routes between 6a-6c+

Danny : Even downclimb lead routes?

Majid : Yes

Danny : O.o! So that means im not being excessive at all! :DDD Hurrah, thanks, I will preservere to become a good climber :DDD

Other tips he gave me were :

"Bouldering is only for fun, try not to overdo it as bouldering is known for causing many injuries, especially if you hold too many creams while bouldering your fingers will hurt after a while. It's okay to boulder but do it within the right limits. Also, if you always boulder you will have problems doing endurance, different muscles" "I train my students to hold slopers under OVERHANGS. So remember to train em up" "My fingers cannot be stretched upwards. And if I don't climb for 2 days my finger will hurt. It's like climbing is my medicine to cure the pain. So always remember to stretch well. Then you can climb at your peak performance and avoid your hand from becoming like mine" "Between climbs you should eat easily digestible food like banana, it helps you to gain energy quickly (banana is known for its easily digestive properties and some eat it between rounds when they play sports to gain energy quickly)" "Try not to eat until after 45mins you climbed, it's not good for you" (I forgot the explanation for this one) "In Krabi, its a good place to climb, don't think that you can't go, because there are over 250 routes there, ranging from 5a-9a or even higher Also there you can do deep water soloing" let me explain : Deep water soloing is where you climb without rope and if you fall you fall into the SEA yes, the sea (: the rocks are next to the sea, IM SOOO GONNA TRY IT SOMEDAY! XD "It's good to do a bit of physical training after you climb. Hence, going to the gym BEFORE climbing is bad, but after is good. Don't overdo it though I take my kids climbing and also to gym"

Next day we went to the floating market

The big one was closed to so we went for this one

Hm... was just so so... can't believe the big one only opens on weekends! T_T




That's all for my journey!!

The journey back home took 2 days

it was gruelling.... sitting in the car.. feeling timeless

We stayed at an inn on the way back

rm70, cheap!! XDDD

had AN LCD TV INSIDE THE ROOM LOL!!

It's a new hotel thats y hahaha

But nearly got robbed, but the robber was so silly, he tried to push away
the latch of the door, made so much noise that my dad woke up

Then he just ran away lol

Oh well

After that

HOME SWEET HOME!! XDDDD

It was a really great trip,

I watched the ladyboys, climbed and met majid and min, watched muay thai,
watched avatar in a thai cinema, visited the red light district patong,
sat the cruise on menam chao phraya, saw the small floating market,
ate some McD, ate some Thai FOOD!! XDDD
